Still slow on the uptake again - Haunted House info for you

Posted in Uncategorized on October 28th, 2008

Hey all! I know, I know. How are we supposed to keep your interest if we never update the site?? Good question! One for which I’m sure there’s a perfectly good answer; however I don’t have that answer. So until I figure it out, I guess I’ll just update the site with another post.

Right now we’re in the middle of Haunted House season and as you know, this is a busy time for the UG. We’ve already ran it for two nites, and it went very well. Of course it got rave reviews from all of the critics. But we all know how critics are lame and wrong, so you’d better come down and see for yourself.

We still have 3 nights left. Wednesday and Thursday (10-29 & 30), 7-10 and Friday (10-31), 6-12. You’re really not going to want to be the only one around that says “Aw man, I missed it this year!” so you’d better high-tail it down there to try it out. That’s right; I said “high-tail”, what are you gonna do about it?? I’m the poster here and I’ll say whatever I want. Admission is $5 and it’s the best $5 you’re likely to spend that night. Besides, it isn’t like most of us have anything better to do anyway. :) This year’s theme is horror movies, so you’ll also have that going for you for what it’s worth.

But what about our other things that go on at the UG? Well we decided to wait until after the HH because we have to shut the UG down for it anyway due to the fact that it takes up all the space in the building because Matt gets a little overzealous in his production of this thing. The bathrooms are even closed so you can’t get to them. So take care of that before you come down and wait in line. Not that I’m trying to tell you what to do, but if you don’t you’ll be sorry.

So back to the “other programs” thing; we’ll be picking those up after the HH and we’re looking at some changes. From what I understand, here’s the lowdown:

Movie nights will be starting up. I mean really, who can resist a good ol’ classic flick on a couch with a bunch of folks and a giant projector?? And as always, it’s free. But we have concessions so bring some cash.
Friday Nights will be right on schedule like always, so no changes there. Not like we can move it to Thursdays or anything. Then it wouldn’t be “Friday” night.
Church of the Ransom is gearing up to go again and the night for that is yet to be determined. We’ll keep you all posted on that. There have been some changes in the community that might make a day change a good thing.
Matt wants to start up a seperate program that will be more of a youth group that will be seperate from Ransom. It’ll be geared more toward the younger crowd whereas Ransom is for all ages. It won’t be quite as in-depth and serious as Ransom is either. Not to say that it will be fake and superficial, it will just be a little less intense than Ransom can be. I know that description probably screws it all up, but it’s going to be a blast so wait until I get a better description from Matt that doesn’t butcher the concept and I’ll post that up here.

We’re excited up about geting back into the swing of things and we look forward to all of you coming down and enjoying these things with us. Your support has been tremendous and we apprecite you more than words can say. Thanks for everything, people. You’ve really been great!

**EDIT - I forgot about the Podcast. From what I understand, we’ll be getting the old episodes posted again and we’ll begin making new ones for you soon. Keep an eye out for those!**

Blessings -
Tommy

Waddya mean, where have we been????

Posted in News on October 9th, 2008

Hi-dy ho good neighbors! it’s good to be back online again, we were beginning to get worried about all of you folks. So as you’ve seen by now, we’re back. But here’s the thing; we’re on a new host with new features and all sorts of new goodies that we can take advantage of. What does this mean for you, the average UG user??? Well, I don’t really know, but I’m sure there is some incredible significance there somewhere. :) I kid. What that means is we will be able to do alot of things that we weren’t able to do previously.

Streaming multimedia, bulletin board, file hosting, blog hosting for staff, etc. The sky’s the limit, apparently. I know that the site looks eerily similar to the old site, and that’s because we just transferred the old stuff to the new site for now. It will be different by the time we’re actually done, but we really wanted to get something up for you guys to see and a place for us to communicate with you about new junk happening and whatever.

For now, keep an eye on this place for updates on things like the haunted house, the UGMVGU, our re-emerging and reformatted programs like Ransom, movie nights, etc. and of course any upcomging shows.

We want to thank you all for sticking with us through the tough times of the remodel and for helping out and always being supportive of us. You’re all the greatest and you’re appreciated (except Cameron).

**As a side note - some of the stuff on the site doesn’t work. We apologize for that, now get over it. :| We’re hoping that Chris still has the podcasts somewhere so we can get them uploaded again. If you see weird formatting, it’s being worked on and when we get the new layout, it’ll be fixed. Bear with us as we move from remodeling the UG to remodeling the website. It’ll get better.**

Blessings

We’re Cleaning House…

Posted in Uncategorized on April 25th, 2008

Hello. We’re in the process of a giant server move, so things on theundergroundrev.com might be a little shaky for the next week or so. Keep checking back.

The Ransom will be held somewhere else for about 6 weeks

Posted in News on March 27th, 2008

That’s right folks! With all the stuff going on inside the UG right now for remodeling, we’ll be moving Ransom to another spot for a while.

This is from Matt:

“Alright so Ransom is going to be held at 1030 O ST in Gering it is at the “Cleansing Flame Building” and we have to use the entrance in the alley behind The Gering Library. It will start at 7:30 and will be at this location for the remainder of our closing May 8th is when we should be back in The Underground.”

So there you have it! We hope to see you there on Thursday nights.

Podcast #25: Drugs Are Really Bad

Here’s an update…

Posted in News on March 10th, 2008

So Matt’s been bugging me to update the site even though he hasn’t updated the myspace either so I’ll get this taken care of while he still doesn’t do his.

The UG has been undergoing significant change lately from a cosmetic standpoint. The next time you come in, you’ll be surprised at what you see! I’ll have some pictures up eventually for those of you who might be interested. Construction has been fast and furious. We wouldn’t be able to have any of the things that have been done lately without the help of Jr. and Logan. These guys have been hammering away down there profusely and constantly (no pun intended).

So, while it may seem that not much is being done around the place due to our lack of updates and new podcasts, rest assured that we are always at work there and that things are constantly changing for the better.

We look forward to seeing you at some of our regular weekly events; just check our calendar link on the left side of our page here…

I don’t even know what to say… I’m nearly speechless

Posted in News on January 28th, 2008

Well.

What in the world do you even say after a night like last night? I mean, really? If you were there, I want you to lock that memory in your mind for the rest of your life. You may not realize it yet, but someday you will understand that what you witnessed at the UG last night was very likely one of the greatest single acts of entertainment that this city has ever seen or will ever see again (unless we set up another one, who knows).

We’ve talked a lot about the other shows we’ve had and they were all great shows, but this one transcended great. This one took the “great” barrier and chewed it up, spit it out, lit it on fire, soaked it in bleach, fed it to a german schnauzer-pitbull-chihuaha-mix, waited for it to come out the other end, then ran it over with a locomotive carrying 12 other locomotives to the circus in Poukipsie and…. well, you get the point.

I can’t believe I can even keep from shaking as I type this post and I relive the scene from last night.

But, for those of you who weren’t among the lucky 150 people to be in the right place at the right time, spinning in the pit, experiencing the infamous Flatfoot 56 “Braveheart” and crowd surfing (even knocked part of the chandelier down), you can at least look forward to some footage of the evening soon. Then you can live vicariously through those that were there and discovered what it really felt like to be alive.

There! That’s all I’m saying about it for now. I may do an official write-up later on, but I have a feeling that the video will say everything that needs to be said about it (and then some).

Now, as a side note, if you’re not clear on how the pit is supposed to work, please feel free to drop us an email and we’ll be happy to explain to you the proper way to enjoy the circle. There were some there last night who were unclear on the concept and it was apparent that they needed some sort of assistance in figuring out this complex art. Maybe we’ll do a short segment on it during our next podcast.

Unil then - goodnight.

Flatfoot 56 and the “Warriors and Renegades” tour!!! January 27th at the UG!

Posted in Events, News on January 16th, 2008

Join us in welcoming Flatfoot 56 back to the UG on January 27th as they roll through town on their “Warriors and Renegades” tour!!!!

Accompanying them will be:

The Last Hope
Free Fall
Middle School Dropouts

The show starts at 7pm and admission is $5 at the door. Better get there on time, you don’t want to be one the ones turned away because the building is over capacity!

Tell a friend and mark it on your calendar, this is truly going to rock. If you’ve seen them then you already know how amazing this is going to be. If you haven’t, you owe it to yourself and to the generations following you to experience this. You’d hate to have to tell your grandkids that you ALMOST got to see Flatfoot live. Trust me, you’ll lose any respect from them that you might have earned up until that point.

Check out the Flatfoot site to hear some of their stuff.

We’ll see you all there.
